Attention All Big Dawgs Shooters….
Due to the Ragbrai bicycle tour stopping in Mt. Pleasant and ending in Burlington on July 25th this year, motel rooms in the area will be expensive and hard to find - so make your reservations now!!! The Ragbrai bicycle tour historically has had up to 10,000 participants which will make lodging of all kinds very tight during the weekend of the Big Dawgs Steel Match.

2008 Big Dawgs Prize Donations

The Big Dawgs Steel Match was designed for lots of shooting and no moving. Just enter the shooters box, on the buzzer, draw and shoot down your 6 targets as fast as possible. Do this four times with ALL FOUR RUNS COUNTING as your score for each stage. Add together your totals for all stages and that’s your time.

This match is the dream of gunsmith, Bob Hunter, of Osborn, MO. Eliminating the running, bending, kneeling and other acrobatic stunts, and concentrating on the pure aspect of drawing and shooting allowing handicapped shooters to participate in a heads up match.

Each stage is different. Some are plate racks, some field courses using Popper, US poppers, Colt speed plates, or whatever shapes and sizes the hosting club has available.

The only classes are Open and Limited. It’s easy to tell what class your gun is. If it has a compensator, the barrel is ported, and/or optics, it’s open. Everything else is limited.

This is a heads up match so all shooters are ranked in order of finish. Total times for all stages are listed in order, fastest total time in 1st place and so on down the list. Full match rules are in Acrobat Reader, MATCH RULES.
